THE MARINE WORLDS CAROUSEL

Located on the banks of the Loire river, opposite the Jules Verne Museum, the Marine Worlds Carousel seems to come out of the isle of Nantes’s belly at the most maritime place of the city.

This giant carousel, almost 25m high and 22m of diameter, is an incredible machinery that reawakens fairground art. An authentic 360-degree theatre, it meets the public in an incredible sculpture dedicated to the sea. The visitors are the spectators of strange and disturbing marine creatures turning in a huge mechanical aquarium mounted on 3 levels. They discover the sea in all its forms, from the seabeds, the depths, and up to the surface of the oceans.

In the seabeds, the public accesses to the Giant Crab, the Reverse Propulsion Squid, the exploring Machine that dives into the machine room, or to the Bathyscaphe that climbs up the central mast… A total of 14 elements fixed to a rotating platter.

Into the depths, at the second level, 6 elements – such as the Deep-Sea Lanternfish, the Manta Ray or else the Pirate fish –hanging above the seabed. The passengers will embark from a pas¬sageway located 5 meters above the seabeds.

At the surface of the sea, on the third level, a rotating platter, protected by a marquee, sweeps away boats, marine teams and other flying fish, a storm boat, nut shells and jellyfish, in a raging round of 24 big mechanical waves.

The Great Elephant links the Carousel up to the Warehouses, that host the Machine Gallery and to the workshop, at the heart of the Machine system. Like a ship, it will accost at the Marine Worlds pier to drop off passengers then will set sail to resume its journey.
